Stylish sneakers for women have been hard to come by for most of my career, but these days we are flush with a fantastic selection, including stylish running shoes — be still my heart! Anyone who knows me or who has followed me closely knows I have run almost half of the days of my life since I was 15 years old. When the pandemic hit, world horrors aside, I reveled in running for 56 days straight, which I do not recommend by the way. My knee ended up stopping my running altogether for a little bit. But, I digress.
It is so exciting to finally feel put together when I run or workout. It’s truly an exciting time to be an athlete, since the clothes have finally caught up to us. Can we blame them? We are fast — insert winky face.
Stylish Running Shoes
In my day-to-day life, it’s not a catastrophe if my favorite running shoes are not the most stylish, but when I travel, I need my running shoes to be stylish so they can pull double duty. I always run when I travel, and it is burdensome to have to pack ugly running shoes. Space in a carry-on suitcase is more valuable than a Taylor Swift concert ticket. It really wasn’t until the last few years that I was able to find high-quality, stylish running shoes that work for a true runner. It has changed my travel life. I now have space in my suitcase for items I had to skimp on prior to the gorgeous selection of running shoes below.
Stylish Sneakers for Women
Obviously, an athlete wants stylish sneakers, but so many of my clients have foot issues and are in serious need of comfortable stylish sneakers for every day. They’re dealing with plantar fasciitis, knee replacement, arthritis, fractures, and other health issues that could have possibly been prevented if they had worn better shoes most of their life. And who wants to be uncomfortable these days?! Our priorities have changed, but our passion for style has not. Every single one of us needs stylish and comfortable sneakers in our life for traveling, roaming the farmer’s market, dog walking and anything else that has our feet moving. I have done some hefty research to find you some of the most comfortable stylish sneakers ever made.
How To Wear Sneakers Outside The Gym
Stylish sneakers for women are wonderful, but you can’t be wearing them all willy-nilly. They won’t look amazing with a midi dress unless you are 5’8″ or taller and lean. Instead, pair your stylish sneakers with…
- Athletic leggings
- Cropped wide-leg pants or jeans
- Cropped straight-leg jeans
- Short t-shirt or hoodie dresses
- Casual shorts
- Joggers
- Tapered leg jumpsuits

Stylish Sneakers From Years Past
I originally wrote this post years ago and update it regularly due to its popularity. I’ve left these photos below for nostalgic purposes. Whenever I update older posts, I love to hold on to a collection of images as a bit of a time capsule so we can watch how our style evolves.
L’Amour Des Pieds
This is one of the most beautiful sneakers I have seen, and helllllloooo comfort. It’s so darn smooth inside that you don’t have to wear socks. Plus you can take out the inner sole and slip in your own insert. As for the style, the blush shades of various textures is absolutely delectable.
Pairings: You can pair this with pale colors like my DL 1961 light-wash blue jeans in whitman, white jeans, and pastel-colored shorts. You can also pair this stylish sneaker with pale-colored dresses if you’re the edgy sort.
Geox ‘Shahira’ Sneaker
I was so delighted to find this oxblood and blush sneaker. The comfort is solid and can be worn without socks, but I prefer it with no-show black socks.
Pairings: I love this one with Zella’s cut-out cropped black leggings, or Zella’s slim fit capris.
Geox ‘Illusion 25’ High Top Wedge Sneaker
This Geox wedge sneaker in navy is gorgeous. And like the wedge sneaker mentioned previously, it is chic instead of trendy. The comfort is lovely and feels good inside and out.
Pairings: This will go with almost any color skinny jean or legging except dark blue or navy. My favorite colors to pair with it: light grey denim, ox-blood, forest green, light-wash blue denim, and even black leggings if you are doing a navy/black jacket or navy/black top on your upper body. You can also pair it with sweater dresses.
New Balance ‘Vazee Transform Graphic Trainer’
This New Balance trainer is another stylish sneaker that is more workout then casual wear, but it works beautifully with casual sporty looks. Again, I recommend a no-show black sock.
Pairings: I love this one with Zella’s cut-out cropped black leggings, or Zella’s slim fit capris.
