Statement earrings are my go-to accessory. There is no better spotlight for your face, and they don’t require other jewelry to complete your look. My minimalist clients who want to play with accessories, but don’t want to worry about matching or dealing with multiple pieces, love that bold earrings can carry an outfit alone. Plus, with an increase in people working remotely these days, it’s all about enhancing your upper body style for those Zoom calls and virtual meetings. I’ve already gone over my favorite work blouses, so now let’s talk about statement earrings.
Best Statement Earrings For Work
For those who want to sport statement earrings in the office, it’s important to select earrings that make a statement without exclaiming, “Let’s party!” The key is to have a heap of sophistication, bypass trendy items, and skip anything too large, blingy, or noisy. When in doubt, you can’t go wrong with a bold, all-gold earring for your work-appropriate statement accessory, whether that’s a gold hoop, dangle earring, or stud with a unique shape. If you don’t want to bother picking out your own, and you’re eager to get to the good stuff, scroll down to see my favorite statement earrings that I have been adding to my clients’ work wardrobes.
How To Wear Statement Earrings At Work
A work-appropriate statement earring doesn’t necessitate other jewelry. In fact, you definitely want to skip a necklace because that is too much for work (and often for most situations). You can add a ring or bracelet, but you don’t need to. If you want to, I recommend delicate gold stacking rings or a single larger ring that mimics the vibe, material, and shape of your earrings. You can also pair a gold chain link bracelet with gold statement earrings.
As for the clothing, if you are in a creative office, feel free to pair your statement earrings with bold prints. But if you’re in a more conservative office, let your statement earrings be the main expression of your look that day and pair them with solid colors and more conservative silhouettes. I also recommend more open necklines with statement earrings. Otherwise, the earring might be dueling with a turtleneck or high collar.
Other than that, there’s not much else you need to know about work-appropriate statement earrings — that’s the beauty of them! They don’t require much instruction and are the easiest way to bring high style to any humdrum work look. So without further ado, here are some of my favorite work-appropriate statement earrings to get you started…

J.Crew Colorful Floral Hoop Earrings
I know these J.Crew Colorful Floral Hoop Earrings seem blingy, but they can work in a more fashion-forward environment. You can even pair these with prints if you’re feeling bold. I have to warn you though, they are a little heavy. Only those with ears of steel can go an 8-hour day in them. I personally would wear these earrings for a speaking engagement. An hour or two is very doable. These earrings are available at J.Crew and Rent the Runway.
Chauncey & Coco Voyage Brass Arch Earrings
Madewell Wavy Lines Threader Earrings
These earrings are available at Shopbop and Madewell.
Statement Earrings From Years Past
I originally wrote this post in 2018. I’ve left these photos below for nostalgic purposes. Whenever I update older posts, I love to hold on to a collection of images as a bit of a time capsule.
Halogen Multi Ring Hoop Earrings
These Halogen Multi Ring Hoop Earrings are actually smaller than they appear, and the gold is more of a soft metallic rather than a yellow gold, making it flattering on most, if not all skin tones.
Halogen Double Circle Drop Earrings
Sculptural and versatile enough for everyday wear, the Halogen Double Circle Drop Earrings feature interlocking metallic hoops that are large, but work appropriate.
Argento Vivo Frontal Hoop Earrings
I love how a front facing hoop is unexpectedly bold. These Argento Vivo Frontal Hoop Earrings are lightweight, visible, and versatile.
J.Crew Oval Drop Earrings
These J.Crew Oval Drop Earrings work with just about anything. I especially love pairing them with a shift dress or printed blouse.
J.Crew Bead & Blossom Earrings
I can’t get enough of these super lightweight J.Crew Bead & Blossom Earrings.
J.Crew Striped Bead Drop Earrings
These J.Crew Striped Bead Drop Earrings are insanely lightweight and completely charming. You can wear them with any type of work look – unless you’re an attorney.
Sole Society Tiered Geo Statement Earrings
I’m all about the mixed-metal, tiered goodies. These Sole Society Tiered Geo Earrings are a great work appropriate option. The earrings are available at Nordstrom.
J.Crew Love Knot Drop Earrings
These colorful J.Crew Love Knot Drop Earrings work with both prints and solids. I would love to see them with a pastel colored suit.
J.Crew Circle And Tassel Earrings
These J.Crew Circle And Tassel Earrings go with anything from jeans to suits.
Ann Taylor Seed Bead Drop Earrings
The Ann Taylor Seed Bead Drop Earrings look cheap, but wear beautifully. They are small and lightweight, and can work with any outfit that needs a pop of color.
Nakamol Design ‘Cecilia’ Labradorite Tiered Drop Earrings
These Nakamol Design ‘Cecilia’ Labradorite Tiered Drop Earrings look amazing with turtlenecks, shells, and sweaters. It’s best not to pair them with large prints or a traditional suit.
Lana Jewelry ‘Bond’ Small Double Hoop Earrings
I am obsessed with these sexy Lana Jewelry ‘Bond’ Small Double Hoop Earrings. They work with everything from suits to t-shirts. You could wear these every day and everywhere if you wanted. Just try it.
Rebecca Minkoff ‘Star Girl’ Drama Medallion Drop Earrings
These Rebecca Minkoff ‘Star Girl’ Drama Medallion Drop Earrings are probably the least “worky,” but can fly in many of my clients’ offices. They look best with jeans and “fun” work outfits.

Great picks! I especially appreciate the mixed metals choices for a work wardrobe. I wear a silver toned watch and most of my other jewelry is gold. Will be looking further at some of these options.
Hi Laura! Mixed metal is a great way for your jewelry to “speak” to each other. So glad you enjoyed!
